I was never the most active user on here, but going a year and a half without a computer has turned me into a stranger. Now that I've repaired my laptop I'm trying to get reacquainted with certain online communities I have neglected *coughGaiaOnlinecough* as well as my own art.
Most of my work on here is extremely old, and not at all an accurate representation of my current abilities and styles. Hell, a lot of it isn't even a good depiction of my past talents and styles. I never took dA seriously enough and just used it for lurking other artists, some random art dumps, and those zombies and vectors that I used to make for people. Most of my best work was never posted. Now, after losing 99% of everything I've ever made due to a harddrive crash and my own naivety of not having a hardcopy or backup drive, I regret not keeping up with this as my online portfolio. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that my current and future work will likely be drastically different from my past deviations, and that I really am looking for critiques, or at least a bit of constructive criticism. Favorites and compliments are nice too, but I've wasted enough time, and I'm ready to take my art more seriously.
Unfortunately I had to sell my DSLR and my drawing tablet. I'm trying to save up for a new camera, the Canon T2i - a downgrade from my previous Canon 40D, but nonetheless sufficient for my needs. It's actually smaller and weighs less, so I'll be inclined to take it with me more often than I did my 40D. But, until then, I'll be sticking mostly to my roots: graphite on paper. Those of you from Vegas who have known me since elementary or middle school might remember that I used to be WAY into drawing. Once I started playing guitar and got into dark room (and then digital) photography, I fell out of my drawing habits.
Now that I don't play guitar and no longer have a camera, and I don't have school or work to consume my time, I'm realizing how much I miss drawing and that it means so much more to me than music ever did. For now, at least, I'll be drawing on paper and I might start tooling around in Photoshop.
It's nice to see all of you again. I look forward to getting back in touch.
P.S. Add me on Gaia!
